I started tuning pianos under the direction of my father at the age of 16 following in the footsteps of my two older brothers who were taught how to tune pianos by ear as well. My father Morris Dumont was taught by a friend who was a tuner and was retiring at the time and gave him all his tools. I started five hours a day tuning pianos in the basement of a church, then to clients and friends of my father. I then worked at local music stores where I would tune up to five pianos a day, At the age of 17 I worked at a piano rebuilding shop for 6 years before opening up my own piano shop. My shop grew from 500 square feet to 12,000 square feet within a few years. I had on hand at one time about 150 pianos and the facility included everything needed to fully rebuild pianos. After having a piano rebuilding shop for 25 years I decided to put most of the rebuilding tools in storage and concentrate my efforts toward doing tuning, moving, regulation and repairs, etc. in homes, studios, concert halls or wherever I can be of service. As a RPT (Registered Piano Technician) member with the Piano Technicians Guild for over 25 years and my experience tuning and moving thousands of pianos and rebuilding hundreds brings me the expertise to handle any and all your piano needs, from the smallest repair to
recommending and working with the best piano rebuilding shops around.
